Serendipity: The faculty of making happy and unexpected discoveries by accident.
Name given to the science that studies chance.
The word serendipity was coined by Horace Walpole who in 1754 wrote the fairy-tale The Three Princes of Serendip. Serendip is the Arab name for the island of Sri Lanka but it seems, in fact, to be much older, and derives from the Sanskrit "Simhaladvipa" which means "The dwellers place of Lion Island".
We are surrounded by serendipity. Serendipity has no physical, natural or mental boundaries. Indeed, the most difficult thing is to be aware that serendipty is happening.
