elektronikaldia 2002,catching your breath asier leoz
The first signs of Autumn shall once again be accompanied by electronic melodies, some made for dancing and some not. Elektronikaldia is four years old in October and is still learning with each new edition. This year they’ve a smaller budget. Even though the festival is becoming more and more known, it’s certainly not easy for the organisers Txarli Brown and Javi P3z to put things together every year. They haven’t got the big brand name sponsorship they had last year and this means they’ve had to be more choosy that ever. Having said that, there’s a wide variety of acts on offer both during the day and at night and these acts will, like last year, be appearing at the Kursaal and Gaztesena in Egia. As regards the concerts, the organisers are really looking forward three hour cabaret cooked up by CHICO Y CHICA. TIM LOVELY, who brought out a great record last year, and MARIANO & NICODEMUS, part of a group that have really been shaking it up around New York, are also on the bill. A couple of DJs aided by a percussionist will be strutting their Latin based stuff live.
P3z considers them to the local Kruder & Dorfmeister. The Swedish group PUSS, who tear down the walls between music and Performance, are ones to look out for also. The use Game Boy gadgetry to make music.
The programme is a varied one of DJ sessions, competitions and showcases, but it’s a lot slimmer than last year’s one. This year’s poster is certainly not as choked with names as it has been in the past, and this is not purely for budget reasons; it’s also to allow Elektronikaldia 2002 space to catch its breath.
