guia de aves. europako txori gida
killian mullarney, lars svensson, dan zetterstrom, peter j. grant. ediciones omega
This comprehensive and carefully put-together bird guide is the most beautiful book I have bought in recent times. Lots of precise, definitive and easy to read information. The names of the birds appear in many languages (Basque included.) Any bird guide worth its salt has illustrations instead of photographs. Illustrations are much clearer when it comes to identifying birds. The work of Mullarney and Zetterstrom in this book is priceless. The small size of the book also makes it very handy to carry around with you everywhere. Some might say it’s expensive but I think it’s a steal at the price.
diario de golondrina
amelie nothcomb
Miss Nothcomb has for the first time written from the viewpoint of a man (Why have they put the author’s face on the cover?) Maybe it’s because of marketing reasons or just plain vanity. Whatever. We’ve got the introduction to the book out of the way anyhow. What’s been sold as a novel is really a long short story about a killer who’s a fan of the band Radiohead. You could easily read it on the flight from San Sebastian to Paris. And though it’s beautiful in its briefness, media-star writers should be more careful about what and how they publish their work.

This book has caused quite a stir and interesting debate amongst bloggers. It has also won the 2008 Critics’ Award. The characters here are the backbone of the story. As soon as we start reading we realise just how familiar the situation facing the main character in the book is to us. Just how much importance the same situation has in the reader’s life gives way to certain reflection

Characters from traditional tales and stories are the basis to this three-part series of comics. Picture H.C. Anderson’s characters on a visit to Orwell’s animal farm. They all get on board a time machine and suddenly find themselves in 21st Century New York. The wolf is the police inspector, Little Red Riding Hood is a dangerous moll who has escaped form prison and the pigs from the farm are preparing to revolt against humans. It won two Will Eisner Awards in 2003.
