Basque explorers have mainly been tied to the sea. Almost all books on Basque explorers have been about soldiers, slave traders, fishermen or pirates. There was, however, a man born in Gasteiz in the 19th Century who set off with the dream of discovering new lands in Africa. This entertaining book tells of this man, his wife, his sister-in-law and, more importantly, the days when there were still blank spaces on the maps of the world. Manuel Iradier, our very own Doctor Livingstone.

The biggest exhibition in Europe of master artist Gigger has been held right here in our very own Kursaal in San Sebastian, in the small cube exhibition room. In two words: a luxury. Sculptures, paintings using different techniques, objects made specially for cinema, furniture, videos... A quick browse through the visitor's book and along with messages expressing amazement and delight, you can also find some that refer to it as a "pathological", satanic and pornographic exhibition. This visitor's book is the best proof of just how successful it has been. Here, we give you the catalogue.

We have always treasured catalogues published by auctioneers. It's because these ppers allow us to see what's happening in the world of contemporary art. These elegant catalogues give us the chance to see the pornographic figures being asked for the work of the likes of Daniel Hirst, Murukami and others, and it is also a showcase for new artists trying to get onto the circuit. They really are beautiful. They are always large, full of wonderful pictures and stuffed to the gills with asking prices. You won't find another place that so beautifully demonstrates the connection between capitalism and art.

It speaks of the past and the present. It speaks of the reality of the Basque Country and of intimate moments. 'T' is Terese. 'T' is a tragedy. A transformation. And the balde appears in 'T', but even if it didn't, it would still have a place in our modest little mag...
