fun-tsak meets ascii disko fun-tsak   I  fun-tsak 19:25 in Donostia. Fun-tsak are waiting for Ascii. He's late. Suppose German punctuality must have its exceptions as well. Another quick glance at Ascii Disko's promo flyer... “pop indie pop, pop glam rock, pop technohouse and electroclash... pop electric guitars... Whoa! We certainly hope he's in a good humour when he turns up. Daniel Hoc is the musician that hides behind the disguise known as Ascii Disco. He lives in Hamburg and he makes lunch for his other half and her cats everyday. That's what it says on the promo anyway. He's just snuck up on us.

Howya?
Grand.

What are you gonna get up to tonight, then?
Well, I'm gonna go let it rip. I wanna see people jumping around and dancing... are those fags from here?

No, it's not tobacco... you can smoke it but it's not tobacco.
Ah yeah, I get you...

You can hear loads of different styles on your new record...
Yeah. There's loads of variety in there alright. Minimal things, pop melodies, disco... everything I like ended up on the record...

What type of gadgetry do you use to make your records?
I like to use cheap stuff, you know. I'm not really mad on all that sophisticated gear. I like to make cheap and accessible music. I like to be self-sufficient.

Have you ever been to these neck of the woods before?
Not in Donostia. I was in Bilbo alright, doing a session, but it wasn't what you would call a memorable night.

We're gonna mosey on down to the old part and grab something to eat. Do you wanna come along?
I can't. I'm late as it is. I've to do the sound check for tonight and get things ready.

We did a gig last night.
Both of you?

Well. There was a decent crowd last night. You know... really hip fashion people... models and the like... so you're not coming for a bite to eat then?
I'd love to but look at the crust on me. I've just got here and I'll probably have to play without getting any kip again...

Alright, well, we'll just take a few photos and we'll see you at the show tonight.
Photos? With this head on me?

Easy boy... your face won't be in the picture...
