KoKein: there’s hope for the sea yet ome   One of the most pleasant surprises in rock last year comes to us from Eibar. Six songs make up their first record, and they've thrown in a video clip for good measure. Whena you know how to do what you want, there's no limit to what you can come up with. There was a whole process you went through before you released your first record.
We've known the people from the record company "Gaztelupeko Hotsak" for ages. We showed them what we were at and they liked it, so we got in touch with Rafa Rueda from PILT. We did some stuff with him and we released our first single in June. Xanpa worked on production. We did the same for the record in the summer. We mixed it with Haritz Harreguy in Garate.

All of you have been in other bands like Kukka, Ehun Kilo, Kafha and Luther. These bands have little in common with each other. How did you overcome your musical differences to come up with the record?
These bands are all a reference for us, but we also listen to different types of music. We don't always agree but we're really fairly open to anything. When we started the band, we had one thing in mind and that was funk. Things have changed a little since then, but we were pretty sure about what we wanted.

Apart from the song, there's also a video on the record.
That wasn't something we had planned to do. It just sort of happened. We realised we could stick a video on the record. It was Iñaki Beraetxe's idea and he did it with Haimar Olaskoaga.

Planned or not, it's certainly quality stuff.
Haimar has a great cinema head on his shoulders and we think he's done a great job. That's why we included it on the record. I mean, we didn't want some kind of visual candy that looked nice, we wanted to tell a story.
