Nature hasn’t really been generous to the south of the Kalahari Desert in terms of variety of landscape and vegetation. That’s why the telegraph poles that in their day helped carry words across the desert have now become trees. These wooden poles, once dead, have been brought back to life. Weaver birds, of the Finch family, have become pole-squatters, and built some incredible nests in the process.
