zelako    Since we read Zinema + Belako in a poster we reserved the 19th of November to go to Bilborock. The lights of the desacralized church are turned off and Lander, the drummer, starts to mark the rhythm of the performance while walking. Yes, walking. The screen projects Persona by Ingmar Bergman. Liv Ullmann, Cris, Lore,... suddenly the screen becomes a mirror. Belako proposes a new game playing with reality and representation. Woody Allens ́ The Purple Rose of Cairo comes to our minds. Josu Ximun also jumps to the other side of the screen. Bela Tarr’s A Torinoi lo (The Turin Horse), Jarmusch’s Stranger in Paradise, Barrenetxea and Larruket ́s Ama Lur, Tartovsky ́s Stalker,... Belako has jumped into the world of light and shadows. Now, they live in the films projected on the screen. Live music performers on stage are just flesh and bones holograms. And powering with his steps the projection machine Bioy Casares described in The Invention of Morel, Lander continues walking to keep alive the projection on the screen.

It’s not a perfect performance. Fortunately. Because they will have the oppor- tunity to change and prove new things. As they were not afraid to incorporate themselves to legendary films, they should keep on with the punk attitude of trying new ideas for their performance. We thought that when the music -last steps of the machine- went out and shut down the projector. Then, each one of us, crossed the screen mirror and returned to our own movie.
