Eta metaforak greba egin zeben...

jupiter jon

Four-piece Jupiter Jon have strengthened their sound by polishing up their arrangements and vocal treatment. The strong, abstract colours on the cover reflect what you can hear in the songs: eclectic, lively and, in some cases, danceable sounds. Listeners will be amazed by songs such as Gangsterrak operara doaz and Satanak. But there’s much more in one of the most interesting discs of the year.

The Dealers

In recent years The Dealers, from Gasteiz, have moved towards psychedelia without abandoning their R&B roots. They’ve brought out their latest work, which is strengthened by its 60’s sound and image. Examples of that are the straight-hitting Me and the Celling Fans and the psychotropic Requiem for Milko. The song they chose to end the disc with – Mary told me – shows the group’s ability to link things together

Zura

In Ilargi Handi, Zauri Zarae the band led by Xabi Strubell has put Lorca’s poems to music. The second disc, Kiribil, offers you bossanova. The new, third disc starts off with rock sounds. Showing a clear influence from groups from the 90’s, the songs were written based on Txillardegi’s book Leturiaren Egunkari Ezkutua. Jurgi Ekiza does the vocals and masters the lyrics. Zura have put together a powerful record which breaks with the past and looks to the future.

JP Lohian & Klonen Klana

JP Lohian & Klonen Klana

Joseba Ponce wrote all the songs and also played all the instruments. It’s a strong, dark rock record helped along by catchy tunes. There are moments when it gets close to punk such as Lobby hilobi, others that go in another direction with synthesizers (Hiruki beltza) and songs which grab you right away (Beldurra). This is one of those things that doesn’t happen often in music: a catchy disc you can really enjoy.

Art Angels

Grimes

Claire Boucher is an extraterrestrial who looks like a person. You can hear typical Martian pop structures on Grimes’ fourth record. She uses all her skill to bring us songs which are hard to believe and endless rhythms: Flesh Without Blood. She carries on doing the impossible with her voice and has also invited Janelle Monae to her new party to take part in Venus Fly. After the festive Kill V. Maim comes Pin, a colourful song which keeps things fresh.

Fuzz

Charles Moothart and Ty Segall formed Fuzz showing their hardest side. Later Chad Ubovich joined them on bass. The group, which knows no limits in terms of distortion, brought its first record out in 2013. In the double album they brought out in October, influenced by groups such as Black Sabbath, there are intense songs such as Rat Race, Let it Live, Pollinate and Bringer of Light.
