Hi, I’m Troy McClure and I’ve come to tell you about my life.
Matt Groening drew me and Canadian actor Philip Edward Hartmann gave me my voice.
Before becoming Troy McClure, Hartmann had spent eight seasons on Saturday Night Live.
Amongst others, he imitated Ronald Reagan, Charlton Heston, Frank Sinatra, Jack Nicholson, Barbara Bush and Bill Clinton on the show.
He worked on The Simpsons every year from 1991 to 1998, above all in the role of Troy McClure.

In 1987 he got married for the third time. This time it was to a woman called Brynn Omdahl.
10 years later, Brynn shot Hartmann in the head three times while he was asleep. She killed herself a few hours later.
Instead of looking for a replacement, the person in charge of The Simpsons decided to get rid of the Troy McClure character.
