trading cards 9-Audele Bloch-Bauer    Audele Bloch-Bauer was born in Viena, in August 9th of 1881.

She was the daughter of the richest bank owner in the Austro-Hungarian empire and in 1899, she got married with the business man Ferdinand Bloch, who was 17 years older than her.

Ferdinand and Audele got along really well in their lives. They respected each other but they were not in love and slept in separate rooms since the first day.

Audele’s dining room hosted artists such as Gustav Mahler, Arthur Schnitzer, Stefan Zweig, Richard Strauss, Otto Wagner and Gustav Klimt.

Gustav Klimt even visited her bedroom.

Audele Bloch-Bauer is the only woman that Gustav Klimt painted more than once.

She died at the age of 43. She lived praising socialism and when she died, her husband donated 150,000 chekoslovaquian corona (135.000 euros) to varied popular parties and her art collection to the National Museum

Her final revolutionary event was the cremation of her body, which raised a huge polemic in Europe.
