six questions for emmanuel santarromana the balde   Why The Beatles?
As a Dj, I made a compilation for the french designer “Barbara Bui“. For this compilation, I made a cover of The Beatles called “We can work it out“. A lot of people told me that this track was one of their favorite and we licenced it a lot all over the world. So I was thinking about doing a complete cover album of The Beatles, “Fab 4 Ever”.

Did you work each song indepedently or you thought the record as a global idea?
As you can listen on this album, each song seems to be particular, especially because I took different singers for each song, but it also sounds like a concept album with a global idea. It sounds like the way I feel with what we call electro-pop music. If you listen my first album “Metropolitain“ there is a song called “Père Lachaise“ which sounds exactly like some of the tracks in this album.

Some people would think it´s not a risky effort to do Beatles versions...but to me it seems like an enormous responsability.. How do you feel about that?
At the begining, when I was thinking about doing it, I was not really sure. But I think The Beatles tracks are part of the big répertoire. Do you ask to a jazz singer if it’s easy or not to cover “Night and day“. It’s the same kind of responsability. You just have to be respectfull with the spirit of the song. I tried to be...

Was it easy to obtain the rights for the songs?
I had to do the demos of all songs and my label sent it to the “Nashville office“ in US. They take care of The Beatles catalogue. After few months they said ok. I don’t really know how they took the decision but what I know it was really long.

Second studio album, from Paris..to Liverpool... Wich are the principal differences between both works?
For the first album, we decided to do each song separatly, it was the concept anyway, this kind of multi-ethnic music in the same city. The first album sounds really ecclectic. I think this one is more homogenic like I said before.

Are you working on something right now?
I’m working on two projects. One is the continuation of this electro-pop music, but with my proper compositions like the one i told you about “Père Lachaise. The other is something more clubby. I started to work with Henry Padovani who was the first guitarist of “Police“. We want to do some electro-rock tracks with this Punk-rockabilly feeling coming from bands likes Stray Cats etc...
