DELOREAN

Into the plateau·Bcore 2006

Their last album, “Metropolitan Death”, was directed towards the dance floor. This new album, “Into the Plateau” follows the same way. The band brings this universal sound that they create so well. They mix the soul of the 80s and innovative clear sounds. They reject recent comparisons and go for their own faithful sounds. This time, they make use of new electronic elements and devices and so, they acquire greater confidence for the sake of dancing.

TORTOISE & BONNIE PRINCE BILLY

The brave and the bold

The listener can expect something else before listening to the final result of this teamwork. Tortoise and Bonnie Prince Billy are the startling head musicians. However, the word simplicity can define this album. Not in their meaning, but because they offer an album full of versions; such as Devo, Lungfish, Minutemen... according to the unique universe that the mixture of these two projects creates.

VIRÜS

Sintonía nuclear·Subterfuge records 2006

This is a band that mixes electronic music and after punk. This first album was recorded with the famous DJ and producers Cristian Vogel and Joe Robinson and put into stage with bands such as The Libertines and Liars. This band is placed between Donostia, Iruña and Barcelona. The first song of the album is “Estalingrado”, intense and dirty. They feel close to bands like Ramones, Parálisis Permanente and Joy Division.

THE ESSEX GREEN

Cannibal sea·Mushroom pillow 2006

This New York band, where there are members of Ladybug Transistor, has its own way to understand pop music. Although they might seem a bit innocent, these are sounds that seek closeness. This is the third album of this project. They had different collaborators and producers when recording this album. Besides, they recorded the album in different places, far from the big city. The result is unlimited pop music.

EL COLUMPIO ASESINO

De mi sangre a tus cuchillas·Astro discos 2006

Some people may think this album is a filthy thing; at least if they pay attention to the lyrics and the strident sound. However, this album is much more than that. There are sounds that no band has showed for a long time. Besides, it is the sound that they transmit in concerts; sweat, power, intensity and blood. In the album, there are painful and contagious songs such as “Lukas 44-48”. There is no time to breath, but just pant.

CALEXICO

Garden ruin·City slang / Sinnamon

Joey Burns and Joey Covertino have achieved new sounds in the new album. They are not desolate anymore and they have reached pop rock compositions. We cannot get mixed, though. They are still the same; their soul is still there, in the basis of their songs. In this step forward, Amparo Sánchez (Amparanoia) works with them in “Roka”. There is freshness and a variety of sounds in the lyrics that talk about social and political issues.
