blue notes, reid colors. angel aldarondo   Reid Miles designed the covers for 500 different jazz records between 1956 and 1967. Working for the Blue Notes record company, he unintentionally created a special code and visual language that captured the soul and rhythm of the music. He became one of the most skilful graphic designers in the world and his innovative modern style is still a source of inspiration today. Amazingly enough, or maybe not actually, but Reid didn’t like jazz at all, he was a lover of classical music. But like all true professionals (or talented mercenaries) he squeezed every drop of creativity out of his imagination over those eleven years to produce his avant-garde work. His work is instantly recognisable: two-tone spontaneous, dynamic photographs, framed and revolutionary, clear and bristling colours, all nicely played off each other with imaginative typography.
