Joaquim Jorda    the man who reminds us that wile cinema isn´t necessary to live, it is to survive. It might happen. Sometimes you have the opportunity to meet a film director you really admire and then, you realize that the owner of this look that puzzles you is stupid. The opposite can also happen. You have the chance to meet the director of those films you dislike and you realize that he is a really nice person. I’m sure this theory is not fulfilled in the case of Joaquim Jorda. Even before meeting Joaquín Jordá and just by watching his films, you know he is a nice guy.
The creator of films such as El encargo del cazador, Monos como Becky or De Nens cannot possibly not be a smart and lovable guy. Thanks to Jorda, we have the hope for a social film that will overcome the poor manichean social films that are so fashionable recently. Films where alliance doesn’t look down on self-criticism; where accusation doesn’t exclude humor; where persons prevail among ideology.
Jorda is not on the cover of any film magazine. Jorda’s glasses are not found on the Internet. Being one of the top film directors, he has difficulties in accomplishing his projects. We should thank him for making films adamantly because some of them might get tattooed to you. His movies have some kind of ability I cannot describe. The residents in Monos penetrate the skin of the viewer and grow old and wrinkle with him. The same thing happens with Jacinto Esteva, the hunter, or the events in the courthouse in Raval...
