Lobo Electrico: Electric Label Teresa Sala
The play. Chaotic. Splattered with eroticism. The invitation. Music and spectacle. Psychedelia. The surprise. The contact. The gestures. The one who wrote these words read somewhere that if you have difficulties in finding words to explain something, it means this something is natural. Lobo Electrico has its own label. It is nice to go to an ordinary cafe in Tolosa and to get, two hours later, a satisfaction feeling that comes from the unexpected. Dr. Magma and Conde Electrico are not common followers of conversations; they prefer a chat with friends. They don’t pay attention to the tape recorder, but it still keeps it place. “I’ll tell a real story” says Dr. Magma, “Once, while I was smoking marijuana, I had an illusion. I was on something that was getting bigger before me. I had a pleasant feeling; immediately I realized that that thing was an animal and it looked like a wolf to me, an electric wolf. If it were a hen, it wouldn’t have been so glamorous...”
Everyone has his own Universe...
In October, 1999 they joined together and they offered they debut gig at Christmas time in Bonberenea. They named “El lado salvaje del corazón” (Beleza Malandra) the first single in blue vinyl, then the record arrived: Has visto ya al Lobo Eléctrico? (Bonberenea, 2004). 10 songs full of temptation, such as: Blakk fiva, Tribu omega, La ciudad de las vírgenes, Caballo sónico...”
This band from Tolosa needs to be known live. “Live gigs are important for me, I wouldn’t resist a long time without a concert”. The singer of this band is sure of the fact that he likes “bands that, apart from creating songs, can also create private universes”. “The stage gives you the opportunity to create universes; when I am up there, I have to make use of it and after we create our universe, we invite the viewer to participate in it”.
And what is Lobo Electrico’s universe like?
“Each member has his own universe and it is a model of the mix of the band. I find the words for my songs in my private mythology. This is something very valuable to me and I try to transmit that”. Musicians don’t turn down invitations; they accept every concert that they are offered.
The Clash, Raphael, Judas Priest and accept the oncoming
They published just one album, they visited Japan in October 2004, they play everywhere, success… What’s next? “We don’t follow an albumtour- concert-a new album fixed pattern; we take things as they come. Now, we have been creating new songs because we had been a long time with no innovation” says Doctor Magma.
They say their style is Rock ‘n’ Roll glam or Erotic rock ‘n’ roll but when they are asked about their sources, there is not a precise answer, “we like a mishmash of music and what we do is a result of this mixture”. Punk? “Punk is not a music style, punk is a way to behave in the world: Do it yourself”.
You must have a band you like, right? A source, an inspiration?
“Sure, but each of us has his own... and the important thing is that the reflection of all this stays within the band.” If he has to choose something, Conde Electrico mentions The Clash and Iron Maiden, “among many others”. Magma has his favorites too: “Rob Halford, the singer in Judas Priest and Raphael. He likes the way they stand in the stage but, above all, I like them because I think they are nice”. Doors and eyes wide open, ready to “welcome the oncoming events”.
